The Executive Chairman of Alimosho Local Government, Hon. Akinpelu Ibrahim Johnson, has directed the decentralisation of the monthly environmental sanitation exercise across the seven wards of the local government to ensure a more effective, seamless and coordinated clean-up of the environment.
The monthly exercise, held simultaneously across the seven wards today, Saturday, September 26, 2026, between 6:30 a.m. and 8:30 a.m., marked a clear departure from the pattern adopted in previous months, with Councillors taking direct charge of sanitation activities in their respective wards.
Under the new arrangement, each Ward Councillor led the exercise in their ward, with the support of political appointees, including Supervisors and Special Advisers drawn from the respective wards.
The initiative was introduced by Hon. Akinpelu to bring the sanitation exercise closer to the communities and ensure that activities are properly coordinated at the ward level.
The Chairman himself took charge of the exercise in Ward A, where he led the sanitation activities and monitored compliance as residents and stakeholders participated in the clean-up.
The simultaneous ward-based approach, according to Hon. Akinpelu, is aimed at strengthening grassroots participation, improving coordination and ensuring that all parts of the local government receive adequate attention during the monthly environmental sanitation exercise.
