Akinpelu Calls for Unity, Cultural Tolerance as Alimosho Celebrates 2026 Isese Day

Unity, cultural heritage, tolerance and peaceful coexistence were the messages of the Executive Chairman of Alimosho Local Government, Hon. Akinpelu Ibrahim Johnson, to residents as the council joined traditional worshippers in celebrating the 2026 Isese Day.

The annual traditional celebration, held on Thursday, August 20, 2026, provided an opportunity for the Chairman to celebrate the occasion with traditional rulers across Alimosho Local Government and emphasize his administrationโ€™s commitment to religious tolerance, inclusiveness and the preservation of the communityโ€™s rich cultural heritage.

As part of activities marking the celebration, Hon. Akinpelu, accompanied by members of the councilโ€™s management team, the Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE), Alimosho Branch, led by Comrade Oluwagbemiga Afolabi, legislators and other officials, paid courtesy visits to prominent traditional rulers across the local government.

The delegation visited the palaces of the Elegbeda of Egbeda, His Royal Majesty Oba Hammed Orelope Laka; the Alaye of Orisunmibare, His Royal Majesty Oba Akibu Adebowale Raufu; and the Onishasha of Shasha, His Royal Majesty Oba Nasiru Babatunde Ogunronbi, as well as the Baales across Alimosho Local Government.

The Chairman was represented during the visits by the Supervisor for Chieftaincy Affairs, Hon. Olajorin Adeshina Omoola, and the Head of the Tourism Unit, Mr Olaleye Oladimeji Abass.

Speaking on behalf of the Chairman, the delegation conveyed his goodwill and prayers to the traditional rulers while congratulating them and the people of Alimosho on the celebration of the 2026 Isese Day.

Hon. Akinpelu reiterated his administrationโ€™s commitment to religious tolerance and inclusiveness, stressing that his government does not discriminate on the basis of religion.

He said he respects and cherishes all religions while recognising the importance of preserving the culture, traditions and values handed down by the forefathers.

The Chairman also expressed his respect for the traditional institution and prayed for continued wisdom, good health, peace and longevity for the traditional rulers.

He further prayed that the traditional rulers and residents of Alimosho would live to witness another Isese Day celebration in 2027.

In their separate remarks, the traditional rulers expressed deep appreciation to Akinpelu for his commitment, support, respect and steadfastness towards the traditional institution throughout his administration.

They commended the Chairman for consistently recognising and respecting the roles of kings and Baales in Alimosho, describing him as one of the most supportive executive chairmen the council has had.

The traditional rulers assured the Chairman of their continued support and cooperation throughout his tenure.

They also appreciated the Vice Chairman, Hon. Adebisi Francis, for his support and contribution to the administration, while offering prayers for both the Chairman and his Vice to have a successful and impactful tenure in office.
