The Executive Chairman of Alimosho Local Government, Hon. Akinpelu Ibrahim Johnson, has marked the successful completion of his first year in office with the commissioning of the Alimosho Security Network (ASN) and a series of empowerment initiatives for vulnerable residents and youths.

A major highlight of the event was the parade and official commissioning of the Alimosho Security Network (ASN), established to strengthen community security, enhance rapid response and improve the protection of residents and communities across the local government.
As part of the security initiative, Hon. Akinpelu commissioned seven motorcycles, three mini-buses (Korope) and a Hilux vehicle to support the operations of the ASN.
In addition, mini-buses (Korope) were presented to the Environmental Department and the Tactical Team of the Area M Police Command, Idimu, to enhance their mobility and improve operational effectiveness.
The anniversary celebration also featured several empowerment initiatives targeted at improving the welfare and economic wellbeing of vulnerable residents while creating opportunities for youths.
As part of the intervention, 100 elderly beneficiaries received cash support of N25,000 each, while persons living with disabilities were also included in the empowerment programme.
Other beneficiaries received essential items, including cooking gas cylinders, noodles, eggs, drinks and coolers, while bags of rice were earmarked for distribution to selected beneficiaries.
The empowerment programme also catered to small-scale food and drinks vendors. Cooking gas support was provided to beneficiaries engaged in food businesses, while drinks and coolers were distributed to selected residents involved in beverage sales.
In furtherance of the administration’s youth development and employment agenda, fashion-design trainees were presented with support to enable them establish their businesses and become economically productive.
The intervention, according to the council, forms part of its broader efforts to equip young people with practical skills and create sustainable employment opportunities.
