Akinpelu Johnson Hands Over Official Vehicles to Alimosho Lawmakers, Strengthens Legislative Oversight

In a bid to strengthen their legislative functions and oversight responsibilities, the seven councillors of the Alimosho Legislative House have received official vehicles from the administration of the Executive Chairman of Alimosho Local Government, Hon. Akinpelu Ibrahim Johnson.

The presentation of the vehicles, which took place at the council secretariat on Thursday, August 6, 2026, saw the chairman officially hand over the vehicles to the lawmakers as part of his administration’s commitment to strengthening the legislative arm of the local government.

Speaking at the ceremony, Hon. Akinpelu said the gesture underscored his administration’s commitment to promoting good governance through a strong, independent and well-equipped legislature.

According to him, the legislative arm plays a pivotal role in enacting bylaws, providing effective oversight and ensuring transparency and accountability in governance.

He noted that equipping the councillors with official vehicles would enhance their capacity to effectively discharge their legislative duties and better serve their constituents.

The council chairman was assisted in the presentation by the Vice Chairman, Hon. Adebisi Francis; the Elegbeda of Egbeda, His Royal Majesty Oba Hammed Orelope Laka; the Onishasha of Shasha, His Royal Majesty Oba Nasiru Babatunde Ogunronbi; the Alaye of Orisumibare, His Royal Majesty Oba Akibu Adebowale Raufu; and other dignitaries.

The event was attended by political leaders, community leaders, party faithful and other stakeholders from across Alimosho Local Government.

Responding on behalf of the beneficiaries, the Leader of the House, Hon. Rasheed Olamilekan, expressed profound appreciation to the chairman, describing the gesture as a demonstration of his administration’s commitment to effective governance and respect for the principle of separation of powers.

He assured the chairman that the legislative arm would continue to work harmoniously with the executive while carrying out its constitutional responsibilities in the overall interest of the people of Alimosho.

The beneficiaries of the official vehicles are the Leader of the House, Hon. Semiu Rasheed Olamilekan; Deputy Leader, Hon. Samuel Fadeyi; Majority Leader, Hon. Adekunle Adenusi; Chief Whip, Hon. Elizabeth Fashina; and members, Hon. Oluyemi Akinyemi, Hon. Lateef Ganiyu and Hon. Femi Ogunyombo.
