June 12, 2026
Dear Residents of Alimosho Local Government,
On behalf of the Government and people of Alimosho Local Government, I extend warm congratulations to all Nigerians, particularly the good people of Alimosho, as we commemorate the 2026 Democracy Day.
June 12 occupies a special place in our national history. It symbolizes the resilience of our people, the triumph of democratic ideals, and the sacrifices made by patriots who fought tirelessly to ensure that the voices of Nigerians are heard and respected. Today, we honour their courage and reaffirm our collective commitment to democratic governance, justice, accountability, and the rule of law.
Democracy is more than periodic elections. It is about participation, inclusion, transparency, service, and the collective responsibility of citizens and leaders to build a society where everyone has the opportunity to thrive.
As we celebrate this important day, I urge all residents of Alimosho to continue to uphold the values that strengthen our democracy, peaceful coexistence, mutual respect, civic engagement, tolerance, and patriotism. Democracy flourishes when citizens actively participate in governance, contribute to community development, and hold firmly to the ideals of unity and progress.
As I have always maintained:
“Democracy is not just about the right to vote; it is about our collective power to build a just, peaceful, and prosperous community. Let us protect our freedom, promote dialogue, and work together for a better tomorrow.”
Today is therefore a call to action:
Our Voice, Our Power
Our Rights, Our Responsibility
Our Unity, Our Strength
Our Democracy, Our Future
As an administration, we remain committed to delivering people-oriented governance, improving infrastructure, promoting economic opportunities, supporting our youths and women, enhancing security, and ensuring that the dividends of democracy reach every community across Alimosho.
I encourage every resident to remain hopeful and continue supporting efforts aimed at making Alimosho a model local government and a beacon of development in Lagos State and Nigeria as a whole.
Together, let us preserve the gains of democracy and continue building a stronger, more prosperous, and more inclusive Alimosho for present and future generations.
Happy Democracy Day!
Together, We Build a Greater Alimosho.
Hon. Akinpelu Ibrahim Johnson
Executive Chairman
Alimosho Local Government
