The Executive Chairman of Alimosho Local Government, Hon. Akinpelu Ibrahim Johnson, received members of the Muslim womenโs group, Al-Muminaat (The Believing Women), Alimosho Chapter, who paid a courtesy visit to congratulate him on his emergence as the new Chairman and to establish a collaborative relationship with the council.
Speaking during the visit, the Ameera (Leader) of the group, Hajia Karima Ismail Salman, congratulated the Chairman on his electoral victory and introduced the mission and activities of Al-Muminaat. She explained that the organisation is a faith-based body dedicated to empowering Muslim women through educational, spiritual, and community-focused initiatives.
According to her, the group regularly organises programmes such as pre-Ramadan public lectures designed to prepare women for their spiritual responsibilities during and after the holy month. She also noted that Al-Muminaat conducts seminars, lectures, community outreach programmes, and camps aimed at moral and spiritual upliftment.
โOur focus is on spiritual development, educational workshops, and the promotion of moral values among women and young people in our communities,โ she said.
Hajia Salman further appealed to the Chairman to consider including members of the group in empowerment opportunities provided by the local government, particularly for widows, unemployed and underemployed women, as well as young girls.
โChairman sir, we are not here to take much of your time, but to request that our members be carried along in programmes related to empowerment. We would also appreciate the councilโs support for our activities, such as providing venues for our spiritual campaigns and mobility support for our programmes. We look forward to a fruitful partnership with the council. May Allah reward you abundantly,โ she added.
Responding, the Executive Chairman expressed delight at receiving the delegation and commended the group for its commitment to moral and spiritual development within the community.โI am very happy to receive you.
