REPORT ON ALIMOSHO LGA YEAR 2026 PROCUREMENT RETREAT
โENHANCING DUE PROCESS: ALIMOSHO HOLDS STRATEGIC YEAR 2026 PROCUREMENT RETREATโ.
The Year 2026 Procurement Retreat was successfully convened to strengthen procurement processes, reinforce compliance with statutory regulations, and enhance efficiency across all departments and units involved in procurement activities. The retreat brought together procurement officers, department heads, project managers, and financial officers to review existing practices, identify gaps, and adopt best-practice strategies for improved service delivery.
The retreat opened with a keynote address by the Executive Chairman Alimosho Local Government, HON. AKINPELU IBRAHIM JOHNSON emphasizing the importance of transparency, accountability, and value-for-money procurement, which remain essential pillars for effective governance. Participants were reminded that procurement is central to project execution and public trust; therefore, adherence to due process must remain a non-negotiable standard.
During the technical sessions, facilitator led discussions on:
UNDERSTANDING PUBLIC PROCUREMENT LAW AND PROCEDURES. Here the facilitator states the five pillars of procurement, types of procurement, stages of procurement and its techniques.
The retreat also provided an opportunity to review procurement performance from the previous year, highlighting achievements, delays, bottlenecks, and lessons learned. Participants worked in breakout groups to draft improved procurement plans, focusing on areas such as early project initiation, timely requisitions, and synergy between departments to avoid project delays and cost escalation.
In his closing remarks, senior leadership emphasized the administrationโs commitment to building a procurement system founded on integrity, competitiveness, and fairness, while encouraging officers to adopt a proactive approach in executing procurement tasks throughout the 2026 budget cycle.
The 2026 Procurement Retreat ended with renewed commitment from all participants to uphold due process, promote efficiency, and ensure that every procurement decision aligns with the goals of quality service delivery and sustainable development
