The Executive Chairman of Alimosho Local Government, Hon. Akinpelu Ibrahim Johnson, has officially laid the foundation for a new Magistrate Court building within the council secretariat, fulfilling a major campaign promise made during the last local government election.

The groundbreaking ceremony took place on Monday, September 8, 2025, at the council headquarters in Akowonjo.

Until now, the Magistrate Court had been operating from Iyana Ipaja Market, where it was housed in a deteriorating structure considered unsuitable for judicial activities.

Recognizing the need for a more conducive environment, Hon. Johnson pledged to relocate and rebuild the court during a recent visit to the Iyana Ipaja facility.

Speaking at the event, the council chairman assured residents that the project would be delivered promptly, adding that the new building will provide a modern, functional workspace for judicial officers and staff.

He was accompanied by the Vice Chairman, Hon. Adebisi Francis; Leader of the House, Hon. Semiu Rasheed; Council Treasurer, Mrs. Onibon Kafayat; and other senior management staff of the local government.

The initiative underscores the administration’s commitment to strengthening judicial operations and improving service delivery within Alimosho Local Government.
