What is the future of Alimosho without investing in the education and development of its young people?
This question underscores the importance the Executive Chairman of Alimosho Local Government, Hon. Akinpelu Ibrahim Johnson, attaches to education, as his administration presented bursary awards to successful students as part of activities marking its first anniversary in office.
The presentation took place on Friday, August 14, 2026, at the council secretariatโs hall.
Speaking at the presentation, Hon. Akinpelu described education as one of the greatest investments government can make in the lives of young people, noting that the rising cost of education has placed significant financial pressure on many families.
He said the bursary scheme was therefore introduced not merely as financial assistance, but as an investment in the future of Alimosho and an intervention aimed at empowering the next generation to succeed.
The Chairman congratulated the beneficiaries and urged them to make judicious use of the support, remain focused on their studies and strive for academic excellence.
He described the beneficiaries as future leaders, professionals, entrepreneurs and changemakers upon whom Alimosho and Nigeria would depend, urging them to make their families and communities proud.
Akinpelu also commended parents and guardians for their sacrifices and unwavering support for the education of their children, while appreciating officials involved in the screening and selection process for ensuring a credible and transparent programme.
While reaffirming his administrationโs commitment to its WISE Agenda, the Chairman said the council would continue to implement initiatives that improve residentsโ welfare, create opportunities for young people and promote education and human capital development.
He urged the beneficiaries to regard the bursary as both a privilege and a responsibility, charging them to โwork harder, dream biggerโ and remain good ambassadors of Alimosho Local Government wherever they find themselves.
The visibly elated students expressed their appreciation to the Chairman for the bursary award. Speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, Miss Oladini Oyindamola Deborah and Mosobalaje Abdulquadri Ayomide thanked Hon. Akinpelu for the gesture, assuring him that they would heed his advice, remain focused on their studies, and strive to be worthy ambassadors of Alimosho Local Government.
