Alimosho Local Government has inaugurated the Committee on Sanitization and Security of Alimosho Local Government, code-named Operation Flush, to rid the system of individuals whose stock-in-trade is the procurement of fake documents for unsuspecting residents.
Speaking at the inauguration, the Executive Chairman, Hon.Akinpelu Johnson, said,“Today, I am officially inaugurating this committee, to be headed by the Head of our Legal Department, Mr. Taiwo Onayinka, with members drawn from the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, the Lagos Neighborhood Safety Corps, and other selected individuals. Your mandate is clear and direct: to sanitize and secure Alimosho Local Government. You are to uproot those who short-change the local government by producing fake documents for residents. These activities will no longer be tolerated, and anyone found wanting will be handed over to the police and prosecuted for forgery and fraud.”
The Chairman lamented the damage caused by the syndicate, noting that their activities have destroyed many lives and opportunities.“This syndicate has cut short many dreams. Some people have been imprisoned because of fake documents procured for them, while others have had their visas denied because embassies now scrutinize documents carefully.”
“In Alimosho, we say no to such criminal acts. We will no longer tolerate touts parading themselves as local government staff. I am aware of a case where an individual was denied a visa and banned from entering the United States of America because documents obtained in the name of ‘original’ were discovered to be fake.”
“However, I urge our people not to deal with anyone outside the local government offices. We do not operate from the council gates. Our people must be vigilant and careful.”
In his response, the Chairman of the committee, Mr. Taiwo Onayinka, assured the Executive Chairman of the team’s commitment to the task. “Mr. Chairman, thank you for this opportunity to serve. I assure you that we will flush out these elements. Their activities are a stain on our local government and, beyond that, they ruin their victims’ engagements with embassies, schools, and other institutions where such documents are required.”
The inauguration of Operation Flush marks a decisive step by the Alimosho Local Government toward restoring integrity, protecting residents, and strengthening confidence in official documentation processes.
