Alimosho Local Government Holds Christmas Carol and End-of-Year Thanksgiving Service

The Christian community of Alimosho Local Government on Wednesday held a Christmas Carol and End-of-Year Thanksgiving Service to appreciate God for His faithfulness throughout 2025 and to usher in the New Year 2026 with prayers. The programme, which was well attended by members of the Christian community within the local government, had in attendance the Executive Chairman of Alimosho Local Government, Hon. Akinpelu Ibrahim Johnson, alongside the Vice Chairman, Hon. Adebisi Francis Atoyebi, top government officials, and staff of the council.

In his address, the Chairman emphasized gratitude to God, describing the occasion as a moment of thanksgiving rather than politics or official engagements.โ€œToday is not a day for official talk, but a day to thank Almighty God and appreciate Him for all His blessings in our lives. First and foremost, being at the helm of affairs in Alimosho today calls for thanksgiving. It is not by my might, but through Godโ€™s benevolence,โ€ he said.

He urged residents to remain thankful for the gift of life, noting that life itself is by divine grace. โ€œWe should give thanks to God for sparing our lives up to this day. Some have passed onโ€”not because they sinnedโ€”but because God knows best,โ€ he added.

The Chairman also called on individuals to embrace the culture of giving and caring for the less privileged, stressing that social responsibility should not be left to government alone.โ€œHelping the less privileged should not be seen as the responsibility of government alone. As individuals, we can do our part. Cultivating the habit of giving is one of the best philosophies anyone can instill in themselves,โ€ he said.

He further encouraged residents to prioritize their health by engaging in routine medical check-ups, noting that his administration places high importance on the health and wellbeing of workers through regular medical screenings.Hon. Akinpelu concluded by wishing the workers, and Alimosho residents a joyful Christmas celebration and a prosperous New Year 2026.

On his part, the Vice Chairman, Hon. Adebisi Francis Atoyebi, underscored the importance of praising God at all times. He quoted Psalm 150:1โ€“6, emphasizing that thanksgiving and praise are central to Christian faith and living.

The Christmas Carol marks the first official activity signaling the end-of-year celebrations in Alimosho Local Government.
