Alimosho Local Government Celebrates Nigeria’s 65th Independence Anniversary with

Alimosho Local Government, under the leadership of Hon. Akinpelu Ibrahim Johnson, marked Nigeria’s 65th Independence Anniversary with pupils and students from primary and secondary schools in the local government.

The celebration, held on October 1, 2025, at the Council Secretariat, saw the Executive Chairman of the Council being represented by his Vice Chairman Hon. Francis Adebisi.

Delivering the Chairman’s speech, Hon. Adebisi emphasized the importance of unity, freedom, and hope as Nigeria celebrates 65th Independence Anniversary, stating that, “Independence Day is a reminder of our progress and potential for collective achievement.” He highlighted the local government’s focus on education and innovation, ensuring no child is left behind.

“For us in Alimosho, our greatest wealth is our people,” he said. “We are embracing innovation in education, giving our children the tools to compete in a fast-changing world, and ensuring that no child is left behind.”

The event featured cultural displays, poems, choreography, and a parade salute from participating schools – Greater Heights Heritage Nursery & Primary School, High Grade Nursery & Primary School, Sasa Community Junior and Senior High Schools, Millennium Senior Secondary School, and Community Junior Grammar School.

At the end of the exhilarating performances, winners emerged in both the Primary and Secondary Schools categories. The winners in the Primary Schools category were: Greater Heights Heritage Nursery & Primary School – 1st place; Community Junior School – 2nd position; and High Grade Nursery & Primary School and Greater Heights International Primary School – jointly 3rd positions.

In the Secondary Schools category, following schools triumphed: Millennium Senior Secondary School, Egbeda – 1st position; Sasa Community Senior High School – 2nd place; and High Grade International Secondary School – 3rd position

The winners in the two categories were handsomely rewarded by Alimosho Local Government.

The highpoint of the celebration was the cutting of Nigeria’s 65th birthday cake by Hon. Francis Adebisi, with the assistance of Head of Administration of the Council, Dr. Idowu Banjoko, members of the management team and the school children.

The event was filled with music, dance, food, and drinks, providing a memorable experience for the children.
