The Commander, 041 Communication Information Systems Depot Shasha, Air Commodore HC Usman (DSS, mni), on Monday led other principal staff officers of the unit on a courtesy visit to the Alimosho Local Government Executive Chairman, Hon. Akinpelu Ibrahim Johnson, to explore areas of collaboration and synergy.

The visit followed an earlier familiarization tour by the Chairman and his team to the Depot during the second week of his resumption in office. Speaking during the meeting, Air Commodore Usman appreciated the Chairman for the prompt visit to the base after his swearing-in and explained that the delegation was reciprocating the gesture while presenting opportunities for partnership.

According to him, the Depot also used the occasion to formally notify the Chairman of its annual end-of-year social and cultural event, BAZA, which brings together officers, families and stakeholders for cultural displays, music, dance and bonding across Nigeriaโ€™s diverse cultures.

Air Commodore Usman further commended the Chairman for the follow-up feasibility studies on agreed initiatives, including a cassava processing plant and support for farmers within the base. He appealed for intervention on the deplorable condition of access roads leading to the Depot, consideration of the base communityโ€”especially spouses and familiesโ€”in the Councilโ€™s monthly small-scale business interventions, and inclusion of qualified relations in employment opportunities when available.

In his response, Hon. Akinpelu Ibrahim Johnson thanked the delegation and reaffirmed his administrationโ€™s commitment to partnership. He stated that the Council would honour all earlier promises, noting that the administrationโ€™s WISE Agendaโ€”Welfare, Infrastructure, Security and Educationโ€”is inclusive and people-centred.

The Chairman assured the officers that slots would be allocated to the Depot whenever the Councilโ€™s social intervention programme for small-scale business owners is rolled out. He added that engineers would promptly assess the access road mentioned with a view to addressing it.

Members of the visiting delegation included the Depot Communication Officer, Flight Lieutenant KE Obasi; Commanding Officer, Base Services Wing, Flight Lieutenant SL Shettima; Second-in-Command, Provost Squadron, Flying Officer S. Abdulkashim; Second-in-Command, Works Squadron, Pilot Officer CZ; and the Depot Public Relations Officer, Flying Officer HA Badmus.
