2026 Budget: Alimosho LG Chairman, Hon. Akinpelu Johnson Seeks Legislative Approval for N8.81bn Spending Plan.
The Executive Chairman of Alimosho Local Government, Hon. Akinpelu Ibrahim Johnson, has presented the 2026 Appropriation Bill, tagged โBudget of Restoration and Renewed Progress,โ to the legislative arm of the council.
The budget proposal, presented on Monday, December 15, 2025, at the Legislative Chamber of the council, is aimed at ensuring effective governance and service delivery in the coming year.
The proposed budget stands at Eight Billion, Eight Hundred and Seven Million, Four Hundred and Thirty-One Thousand, Two Hundred and Ninety Six naira, Seventy-Two Kobo (N8.807,431,296.72k) for the fiscal year 2026.
Presenting the budget to the seven-member legislative council, Hon. Akinpelu said the 2026 fiscal plan would focus on road and drainage construction, support for the aged, widows and vulnerable persons, staff welfare, and the provision of logistical support for elected and appointed officials, career civil servants, and traditional rulers. He also listed market development and other community-based interventions as key priorities.
The chairman used the occasion to highlight achievements recorded since assuming office, including the construction of Bamgbola and Benstar streets, erection of a Community Development Committee (CDC) building, reconstruction of a mosque and chapel, installation of speed breakers along Shasha Road, construction of a Customary Court, and the establishment of an Advocacy Centre for residents. Other interventions, he said, include the construction of public toilets, distribution of 600 free GCE forms, the introduction of a monthly 50 per cent subsidised food sales programme, โOunje Alimosho,โ improved staff welfare, and the ongoing reconstruction of Old Ipaja Road, construction of Sekoni street, Alaguntan, Iyana-Ipaja, ongoing construction of Kasali Alyson street, Orisunmibare, N100,000.00k cash empowerment to 500 residents of Alimosho LGA and others.
Responding, the Leader of the Legislative Arm, Hon. Semiu Rasheed Olamilekan, commended the chairman for what he described as his commitment to development and good governance.
โYour passion for service, vision, hard work and integrity have shown that significant progress can be achieved within a short period,โ he said.
Olamilekan assured that the legislature would subject the budget proposal to thorough scrutiny, adding that members were committed to diligent consideration of the estimates in the interest of the people of Alimosho.
The presentation was witnessed by the Vice Chairman, Hon. Adebisi Francis, traditional rulers including the Elegbeda of Egbeda, HRM Oba Hameed Omogoriola Orelope-Laka, and the Alaye of Orisunmbare, HRM Oba Akibu Adebowale Raufu, as well as baales, party leaders, members of the councilโs management team and other stakeholders.
