Alimosho LG Launches Second Phase of 50% Discount “Ounje Alimosho” Food Initiative for Staff

The Alimosho Local Government on Tuesday, December 9, 2025, commenced the second phase of its highly applauded “Ounje Alimosho” food subsidy program, offering a 50% discount on all food items to staff members of the council.

The initiative, which took off at the Alimosho Council Secretariat, is part of the administration’s continued efforts to cushion the economic burden on workers amid rising living costs.

The welfare-driven event was led by the Executive Chairman of Alimosho Local Government, Hon. Akinpelu Ibrahim Johnson, who reaffirmed his commitment to prioritizing staff welfare and supporting households within the community.

He noted that the first phase of the program was implemented during his 100 Days in Office Commemoration Week, where residents benefited from significant discounts on essential food items.

Following the success and positive feedback from the initial rollout, the council expanded the initiative to ensure that workers—who serve as the backbone of local governance—also receive sustained relief.

Council staff expressed appreciation for the gesture, describing the initiative as timely and impactful, especially as families prepare for the festive season.

The “Ounje Alimosho” initiative is expected to continue in phases, with the council chairman reaffirming that more supportive programs will be unveiled to strengthen the welfare of residents and staff across the local government.
