In fulfillment of his commitment to youth development as outlined in the Wise Agenda, the Executive Chairman of Alimosho Local Government, Hon. Akinpelu Ibrahim Johnson, has sponsored twenty youths to a transformative leadership programme titled Community Leadership Training 2025, facilitated by People Planet Limited through the office of the Senior Special Assistant to the president on youth engagement.
The intensive 3-day training was designed to equip the youths with practical knowledge on community development, enabling them to generate ideas and actionable plans that will support local government chairmen in delivering their campaign promises across Lagos State. The programme also aligned with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu by empowering youths to contribute meaningfully to governance at the grassroots.
Presenting the group’s progress report to the Chairman, the team lead, Mr. Abayomi Abimbola, expressed heartfelt appreciation. “Chairman sir, we deeply appreciate this opportunity and say a very big thank you. The seminar focused on collaborating with local government chairmen by developing initiatives that can drive development. These include environmental sanitation projects, health awareness campaigns, talent discovery support, information technology empowerment, data gathering, and other impactful community-centered efforts.”
Responding, Hon. Akinpelu Ibrahim Johnson warmly welcomed the selected youths and encouraged them to apply the knowledge gained during the programme. He urged them to leverage their training to advance the local government’s programmes and help combat misinformation targeted at the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. He emphasized the need to promote the achievements of the federal government in order to support the President’s re-election efforts.
“Always count on my administration,” he assured. “We will continue to work hand-in-hand with the youths. I am expecting your detailed compilation of experiences so we can implement the best of your ideas.”
In addition, the Chairman announced that the local government will consider establishing a Youth Innovation Desk—a structured platform where trained youths can periodically present community development proposals, monitor project execution, and collaborate with relevant departments. This initiative aims to sustain the momentum of youth engagement, ensuring that Alimosho remains a model of participatory governance in Lagos State.
